That state of helplessness always relates to a particular core emotion, be it anger, sadness, or anxiety. From there, we dissociate further into what I call a coping emotion. Dissociation, as a concept that has been developed over time, is any of a wide array of experiences, ranging from a mild emotional detachment from the immediate surroundings, to a more severe disconnection from physical and emotional experiences.
